Boy, this comm has been dead for a while. I thought I might share a game that I came up with for a friend's baby shower called the Goth Baby Name Generator. It would also make a good party/drinking game. When I cut and pasted from Word, it appeared entirely in WingDings o_0 So I've instead opted for screenshots.

Dracula's Ball, October 30th! Red This Ever, Seraphim Shock, DJ's, Candy, + More!

The next Dracula's Ball event takes place on Saturday, October 30th and includes live performances by Seraphim Shock and Celldweller as well as three DJs spinning in three separate rooms.

All ages are welcome. If you want to drink alcohol, you must be 21+ w/photo ID. Tickets are $16 and are on sale now at Ticketmaster (in person or online), IsoTank.com and Digital Ferret CDs.

Our Halloween event has sold out for many years running.... As such, we recommend advance tickets in the strongest possible terms. Every year we turn away several hundred people who want to attend but did not purchase tickets.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. Although this is our Halloween event, please note that it takes place on Saturday the 30th of October. Of course, a few hours after we open, midnight will roll around and we'll kick off the official start of Halloween!

Dracula's Ball takes place at Shampoo Nightclub in Philadelphia, on Willow Street between 7th and 8th Streets. The club has a large enclosed parking lot which is free, but it does fill up early during Ball events. Doors open at 9pm and the event ends at 2am. This Co-Goth site has been a bit dead of late, but I thought I would post a link to my new musical project Flag in Flames (since I am a Colorado resident in the goth/industrial scene). Take a listen and if you like anything feel free to download it (down arrow on the player), all songs are always FREE to download. If you like the music be sure to spread the word and the songs. I also encourage people to use any of the music in their video projects, radio show, podcasts, or other any other projects you may have going on. All I ask is that as a courtesy please give Flag in Flames the credit for the track if possible, thank you. These are unlikely to ever be released on CD and I add more songs as I get a chance. In case you want a quick run down before you play, most songs are somewhat noisey industrial with beats, most are dark, and half are political in nature. The song goths like the most seems to be dark vision, but the song anarchists like the most is Human Farms. The only song where I tried to make it like a song you might hear at a club is Empire, but I am not happy with how the lyrics came out, still it is a fun song.[/edit]

The 2010 Lowlands Tour will consist of of two bands, Sullen Serenade(U.S.) and The Spiritual Bat(Italy). The tour will have East to West coast dates. This is the first major U.S. tour for Sullen Serenade and the second U.S. tour for The Spiritual Bat. Both bands have joined to focus on playing the entire U.S. tour together, in having the idea to support each other on the road. They have taken each others contacts and made one big list of venues and clubs to perform at. Lowlands will start off the end of June and end sometime the 3rd week of August.

Local band Beryl Beloved will be the opening act on the Denver stop of the tour. DJ Katastrophy will also be spinning old-school goth/deathrock music, once the doors open at 8:00.

Sullen Serenade is a single act initiated by Robert Flores in the autumn of 2006. It was inspired by his unique musical ideas and several group projects resulting in a new work of art. The sound consists of vicious and loud percussion combined with wistful melodies giving it a “soundtrack” overtone. The influence for this derives from an eclectic musical selection, many life experiences, cultures and of course, the love of listening to music. Over the years, Robert has dabbled in various drumming and percussion rhythm. He has been a musician for different bands since the early 1990's.

Sullen Serenade will be joined by a great dark goth performer, "Saz'hrah", Saz'hrah has engaged in the dark world of performance for many years. She is an instructor and has collaborated with many other artists.

The Spiritual Bat is a duo consisting of Dario Passamonti (Music) and Rosetta Garrì (Lyrics), a new project, but it is an evolution from "The Spiritual Bats" project which was conceived in 1992 by Dario Passamonti (Alchemisti Painters) and Matteo Bracaglia. At that time, being a painter, Dario composed the music out of the need of transmuting Image into Sound. Matteo was the singer and author of the lyrics until 2004. The vinyl EP Spiritual Bats was recorded in 1993. The project was destined to have a new line up for each recording, but always featured artwork by the Alchemisti Painters (Biennial of Venice, 1986 Art and Alchemy section), as well as their installations and projections during live performances. The performances were multi-medial excursions, or live rituals, rare apparitions, balancing between Image and Sound. In November 1994, after the shows at the Crypta (Rome) and the Condor (Modena) the Spiritual Bats had the pleasure and the honour of opening for Rozz Williams (Christian Death) and his Daucus Karota, at the Black Out (Rome). ...

BERYL BELOVED ("Beryl" pronounced to rhyme with Cheryl) is a two-man/one-machine alternative outfit based in Colorado, which retains even today the melodic, full-bodied spirit of post-punk, deathrock, and eighties-era gothic rock. Their impressionistic, lyric-focused songs draw from predecessors like Bauhaus and the Southern Death Cult, merging intricate but uncomplicated progressions together with their own brand of storytelling.

There are the songs, of course, which have always spoken for themselves. Since the summer of 2009, Beryl Beloved have nourished a sound that is markedly different - free from formula, and yet full of pop sensibilities. Every release is a display of the theatrical bent, elegance, raw energy, tongue-in-cheek, and spontaneity that remains a signature mark of Beloved's work.

"Procession" has been played by U.K. DJ Martin OldGoth on his weekly radio show 'thirteen13' on Radio Nightbreed, and the innovative singles "Bought & Sold" and "Down Low" received FM radio play on the Kansas City new wave show Retro Red-Eye Express.

A scene is obviously worth nothing if it cannot identify itself by identifying with others within it. Support is sometimes necessary, and possible. Phoenix Marie, herself a Goth, was a regular poster on my journal until she became ill, and when she began her fundraising effort I did an interview in my magazine to spread the word about her fundraising appeal, but felt a limited edition Goth book might be more helpful. She is responding to treatment, which is why it is vital she completes the course, which she must pay for herself - the alternative being the onset of advanced old age and crippling pain. Review of 'Menschenfeind' from Connexion Bizarre:

"a blend of old-school industrial and dark cyber-tek electronics" ...so says the blurb, which gave me a little more confidence in what I was about to hear when I was first passed this release. The band's name suggested to me yet another "harsh" industrial act who were as 'evil' as they could be. But maybe, just maybe, cartoon evil is going out of fashion and taking its place is a strain of new industrial where a dark, malevolent evil is core to the sound. As proven here.
Not that you'd know it from the somewhat nondescript opening track, "Drugsick", but "Back To The Grave" makes it plainly clear. Heavily treated, distorted vocals with the music looming like a gigantic shadow behind it.
In fact, another shadow looms over this album, and that is its influences. You don't need to read the act's website to pick out the clear Skinny Puppy and Front Line Assembly influence: the former in the sample-heavy, dense construction, and in the unsettling atmospheres created, and the latter in the clean, pulsing electronics and resolutely old school rhythms.
It's not all about the influences, though - Necrotek's personal stamp is laid over the music by lyrics that are frequently of an astonishingly nihilistic intensity, occasionally heading toward social commentary, but little more than a comment upon how humankind is doing a good job of destroying itself. Not that this is a bad thing, by any stretch - the lyrics fit the mood of the music perfectly, and generally play second fiddle to the music anyway. There are particular moments where all this comes together spectacularly, too - like the vitriolic, murderous hatred of "Human Waste", the sneering stream of accusations that comprise "Beat Yourself Dead", and I'm a particular fan of the spiraling vortex of darkness at the heart of "Sense of Decay" as well.
The album proper is a short-ish forty-eight minutes, padded out by seven remixes. I'm not normally a fan of bands doing this, but I'm going to make a happy exception here for the high quality - and variation - shown by the different remixers. In particular, however, for the staggering Terror Punk Syndicate remix of "Back To The Grave", which basically turns the track into a new Skinny Puppy classic complete with hulking beats and savage guitar samples. But if only Skinny Puppy could still write stuff like this.
It must also be said that this album is perhaps something of an anomaly - one that wears its influences so obviously has no business twisting new and interesting sounds from such familiar raw materials in such style as this. As a result - particularly if you hanker for the days of industrial of the old school - this is an intriguing and essential purchase. -- Adam Williams [8.5/10]

Looking at this Goth site lately it seems that Industrial music is pretty much dead in Colorado. Am I wrong? Please let me know otherwise! Luckily, Arizona is becoming the NEW Industrial Capital of the World! A few months ago, I just happened upon AZ band THE STRAND and love them! Goth magazine THE MICK 50 and THE MICK 51 are both now up for free download. All free, containing interviews with inspiring artists, from yours truly, the longest-running Goth writer in the world. There is also your chance to show Goth Solidarity by helping one of our own, with the Phoenix Marie appeal. Details behind the cut.

THE MICK 51 is a trim little Xmas Special with members of bands remembering the best and worst of Xmas and sharing the occasional spooky experience.

By contrast THE MICK 50 is a 148 page monster. 62 reviews, of various hues, some delightful and odd photos, and then the Big Stuff.

There are interviews with the memorably mysterious (((S))) who created one of the catchiest eerily liquid albums of the year, the wilfully provocative Action Directe still taking Goth through an aggressive politicised keyhole, the sleekly combustible, consistently cogent Collide discussing their unusual covers album, the fiendishly cavorting Deathcamp Project who managed sepulchral sensitivity better than most in the guitar-toting ranks, the dangerously deranged but hypnotically imaginativeLa Peste Negra, the lyrically lethal and extraordinary indie-folk noir hybrid Philip Butler and the stupendously sumptuous, deliciously ambitious Scarlet Leaves.

Understandably, the biggest aspect is the Appeal For Phoenix Marie which calls for some Goth Solidarity, with her remarkable and touching life story coming through a combination of interview and photos, which explains her unusual lift-threatening plight, as well as examples of the photos from her, Jody Elliott and myself that can be purchased towards paying her medical expenses, to prevent any acceleration of brain damage at a time when just one year of treatment could pull her back from the brink and lead to a pretty normal, active life again.
